AI BUILT MY CLIENT A 40-COMPANY TARGET LIST IN 20 MINUTES.

When I bring up AI with job seekers, I hear two responses.

The first: "I've been meaning to figure this out but I don't know where to start."

The second: "I tried it once, it felt generic, and I went back to doing things the old way."

Both are completely understandable. And both are exactly why I want to share what happened with one of my clients recently.

He came to me having spent close to 3 weeks trying to build a target company list. 3 weeks of researching - reading about companies, checking LinkedIn, cross-referencing industries, trying to figure out which organisations were the right size, the right fit, aligned to what he actually wanted next.

He had a rough list. He wasn't confident in it. We rebuilt it in 20 minutes. Here's exactly what we did.

Step 1: AI interviewed him.

Before touching a single company name, we used AI to draw out what he actually needed - His priorities. His non-negotiables. The revenue size that signalled the right stage of organisation for him. The functions he wanted proximity to. The things that had drained him in his last role that he didn't want to repeat.

This alone used to take multiple coaching sessions to surface properly.

Step 2: AI researched against his criteria.

With his parameters clear, we fed them into AI and asked it to generate a list of companies matching his profile - industry, size, geography, growth stage.

Step 3: AI built the output.

What came back was a structured Excel sheet. 40 target companies. Revenue ranges. Sector. Rationale for each inclusion. 3 weeks of work done in 20 minutes. That is what using your time strategically actually looks like.

The people moving faster in their job search right now are not working harder. They are building clarity faster and walking into every conversation with a level of preparation that used to take weeks to develop.

That is a real, learnable advantage. And it is available to everyone.
