3 STEPS TO INCREASE VISIBILITY IN YOUR WORKPLACE!

Jul 09, 2025

One of the biggest reasons talented professionals get overlooked? They stay invisible.

Not because they’re not performing but because no one beyond their immediate team knows what they’re capable of.

This week’s newsletter is about something I’ve seen grow careers exponentially again and again:

Visibility.

Not the cringe kind. Not self-congratulatory LinkedIn posts or awkward bragging in meetings. But strategic, thoughtful visibility that gets you recognized for the right reasons and opens up new doors in your career.

The Visibility Formula: ECG

It’s a simple 3-step approach I coach clients through, and I call it ECG:

 - Educate

- Collaborate

- Get help

 Let’s break each one down:

1. Educate

The easiest place to start — and the one that feels most natural. You’re not talking about yourself. You’re helping others.

Share what you’ve built, discovered, or know — in a way that helps them do their work better.

For example: if you created a new internal tool, proactively walk stakeholders through how to use it and how it helps them.

This adds value and earns you visibility without a single “Look how amazing I am” moment.

2. Collaborate

Look for opportunities to work with people outside your immediate team, especially those in adjacent functions. If you’re in marketing, can you reach out to sales? If you’re in tech, can you talk to ops or product?

Ask: "What’s one thing we could do to make your work easier?"

You’d be surprised how often these small touchpoints turn into long-term allies, mentors, and unexpected opportunities.

3. Get Help

This one feels counterintuitive but it’s powerful. When you’re working on something new or challenging, reach out for help early.

Why?

Because people who help you become invested in your success. They now know what you’re working on. They become informal champions for you inside the organization. Plus asking for help fast-tracks your learning, shortens your struggle time, and builds genuine connections.

Career growth isn’t just about doing great work. It’s about making sure the right people know about it.

So this week, think about where you can start with just one letter of ECG:

 - Is there something you can educate others about?

 - Someone you can collaborate with beyond your team?

 - A challenge where you could get help instead of going it alone?

Visibility isn’t vanity, it’s velocity.

Always rooting for you,
